Mitau was the Capital of the province of Kurland, Kurzeme seat of state representative and  Lutheran church.
 Superintendent General, with 30,000 inhabitants (about 9500 German, then Latvians, Russians, Poles and 6,500 Jews.)
 situated on the navigable Semgalller-Aa, in flat, sandy, but fertile area.

Prices:

- 2d class: 15 kopecks
Back tickets: 1st class: 80 kopecks
Subscription package: 1 ruble for 10 cruises.

The steamboat " Mitau" leaves from August 18, 1892:
In the morning at 9 AM from Dubbeln to Mitau.
In the afternoon at 3 PM from Mitau to Dubbeln.
On monday to August 24:
In the morning at 7 AM from Dubbeln to Mitau.
On sunday from August 16:
In the morning at 8 AM from Mitau to Dubbeln.
In the afternoon at 5;. 30 PM from Dubbeln to Mitau.
In the evening at 9 PM from Mitau to Dubbeln.

Prices:
- 1st class: 50 kopecks
- 2d class: 15 kopecks
Back tickets: 1st class: 80 kopecks
Subscription package: 8 rubles for 10 cruises.
Household goods are transported with reduced prices. Boardind, next to the castle.

Prices for big animals: 25 kopecks.

The Steamboat " Paul"

Leaves everyday from April 4 to November 1 from Mitau to the castle.
Embankment: The Castle place.
Prices: 20 and 10 kopecks.

The Steamboat " Bojarina"

Operates from April 1 to November 15.
Embankment: The bridge toll house .
Departure at Annenburg at 6 AM .
In the afternon from Mitau at 4 PM.

Prices: 50, 40 and 30 kopecks.
Direct connection to the diligence to Bauska. Price 70 kopecks.

The Steamboat " Buelva"

takes passengers everyday from Mitau to Annenburg.
Leaves from Mitau at 4 1/2 PM and from Annenburg at 7 AM.

The Steamboat " Barja"

operates during the summer on sunday from the town to " Berggledding" and " Schodingsfrug".

Train schedule
Mitau is situated on the line from Riga and Russia.
The schedules change twice a year.
To prevent errors, consult the timetables.
( The opening of the Riga-Mitau-rail was held on 21 November 1868 . The distance between the stations of Riga and Jelgava is 43 km (originally 41.5 km).
