The old cemetery of Daugavpils has been completely destroyed by the Soviets in the 1970's. Some old stones and the Rabbis ones were tranfered in the Christian cemetery. It is divided by religion: Catholics, Orthodox, Old believers and Lutherians. There are two sections for the Jews The first time I was there in 1996, I was chocked because one of the Jewish section is close to the railway...The cemetery is situated 18 Novembra iela, on the road to Rezekne. I took these photos in August 2009.

	View to the second Jewish section of the Daugavpils cemetery, which, by the way, is the first one when you enter. I always go first to the other section, up the hill, by the railway.

I certainly forgot to take photos of some stones... but it is not so easy when you are alone. You don't know how to start... From the left or the right?
Then, you are lost and with so many graves, you don't remember if you already took a photo of a tombstone or not.
For instance, I did not find the graves of my relatives Glezerov and Koltun.
It was my third time in this beautiful cemetery. The first and second time I took movies, that , may be, I'll put on line someday.
It is so sad, that the old cemetery doesn't exist anymore.

Pogulianski forest and the mass grave site

West and about 5 miles from Daugavpils is the village of Mezciems, and close to this village the Pogulianski forest.
From November 8 to November 10, 1941 11034 people were killed in this forest. "All local Latvian auxiliary police sources were involved in this mass killing, and even the Arajs commando came in blue municipal buses from Riga to help to quickly handle the killing."
